Theodore E. “Ted” SLIWA, age 92, passed away Mon., June 23. Beloved husband of the late Carole (nee O’Donnel); dear son of Adam and Antonina (nee Jarosz)(both deceased); brother to 6 siblings (all deceased); Uncle and dear friend of many. WWII Army Vet served under Gen. George S. Patton Jr. with the 552nd Field Artillery Battalion. Received five Bronze Battle Stars and a Silver Star for his service. Ohio State University Alumni and member of Pi Alpha Kappa Fraternity. Life member of The Cleveland Society of Poles, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2850, Polish Legion of American Veterans, Lincoln Post 13, American Legion Post 469 and Veterans of Battle of the Bulge. Served as Cleveland City Council Representative for Cleveland’s old Ward 6 from 1968-1978. For years, Ted served as Chairmen of the Memorial Day Committee at St. Barbara’s Church, 1505 Denison Ave. “Memorial Day is a day to commemorate, not celebrate,” (T.Sliwa)
