ECK, Martin F.

Martin F. Eck, age 68. Dearest father of Matt (Kara), Mike (Cheryl), Mark and Melissa. Loving grandfather of Elianna, Kassidy, Michael, Clementine, Xavier and Makinsley. Marty is also survived by his former spouse Michelle (nee Sullivan) and sister MaryEllen. He was preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Mary Ann (nee Calvey) brother Art and sister Eileen.
Marty passed away on December 3rd, 2020. He was a friend to many and made many more laugh with his bad jokes and self-deprecating humor. He was born and raised in Brooklyn, Ohio and never strayed too far away. He wore many hats over his lifetime including, umpire, referee, construction company owner/laborer, lifeguard/manager, bus driver, underground utilities locator, and probably many more. He loved gardening and hanging out at the Hopp Inn. Most importantly he loved bringing people together.
Due to concerns caused by the pandemic, the family will be delaying a celebration of life until Friday, July 2nd, 2021 in the afternoon. The celebration of life will take place (post-COVID) in the Brooklyn, Ohio area and everyone who loved Marty is invited to the BBQ to share in his love. The family will have a small family-only gathering this Saturday.

I reconnected with Marty as we planned our BHS 50th reunion, and he always had a story or joke. Seeing the postings on Facebook makes this quote especially apropos…
“He will be well remembered because he was so well loved.”
Add to Marty’s many titles, Gold Circle rack specialist. He quit Brooklyn Pool to work at Gold Circle one summer and later declared, “Stupid! Worst summer of my life!” So Marty!
For all of the laughs you brought to my life, my friend, thank you. Rest now in God’s peace.
