Savannah was born with a congenital heart defect that she strongly battled for 14 months. Although Savannah’s days were cut way too short, she touched many lives. Her smile was infectious, and her giggle filled everyone with happiness.
For her first seven months of life, you could find her enjoying story time, playing with her blocks, hopping away in her jumparoo, smiling endlessly in her pink swing, hanging out with Sophie the Giraffe, and cuddling with Mommy and Daddy.
She was deemed the strongest and toughest fighter the Cleveland Clinic PICU has ever seen. Her battle with her congenital heart defect was cruel and unfair. She waited five long months for a heart transplant to save her life but unfortunately never received her miracle.
Savannah leaves behind many wonderful caregivers who provided love and support during her seven months in the hospital. Savannah was able to survive some of her toughest challenges due to the continual dedication of her care team. She will be dearly missed by all her caregivers at the Cleveland Clinic PICU. All of these special people, too numerous to mention, provided Savannah with love and admiration in her fight to live and also in her death.
Although our little Heart Angel was on earth for only a brief time, she inspired so many with her strength and resilience. We will always cherish the days we had with her and our hope is that we can make her proud every day going forward.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to further the research of Congenital Heart Defects by donating to the Congenital Heart Foundation through Savannah’s Team for the Cleveland Congenital Heart Walk.
