PELIKAN, Aloysius (Lou), 94, of Parma, OH passed away peacefully on Saturday June 8, 2013. Beloved husband for 69 years of Irene (nee Vadas, deceased). Son of the late Alois and Katherine (nee Hoffman) of Duquesne, PA. Loving father of James (Rebecca Brady), Thomas (Marilyn) and John (Mary). Dear grandfather of Carlotta Pelikan (Hector Cabrera), Christine Pelikan- Wehling (Greg), Sara Pelikan, Mathew LoParo, Robert LoParo (Michael Pack), Mathew Pelikan (Holly), Cynthia Pelikan (Sean Clemmons), Dorothy Mallona (Martin) and Jacenta Pelikan. Great grandfather of 13; Sofia, Alex, Isabel, Ava, Liam, Audrey, Michael, Serena, Prascu, Rafael, Tessa, Xavier, and Natalie. Youngest of 8 siblings and beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews. Known as Pop Pop to his grandchildren and great grandchildren, Lou had a caring and gentle heart. Lou retired from Nationwide Insurance, was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII, a member of the Archbishop Hoban Assembly Knights of Columbus, and was active at St. Charles Borromeo. The family would like to express sincere gratitude to the staff of Mount Alverna Village who cared for Lou over the past seven years, especially the most recent two years in the Memory Unit.
Funeral Mass Friday, June 14 at 10:30am at St. Charles Borromeo, 5891 Ridge Rd. Parma. The family will receive friends at Zabor Funeral Home 5680 Pearl Rd. Parma (between Ridge and Snow) Thursday 4-8. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Mt. Alverna Village 6765 State Rd. Parma, Oh 44134. Interment at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery at a later date.
