Anna W. Hassing (nee Pesak), age 85, passed away at home surrounded by her daughter, Paula Farrell, Son-in-law, Patrick and Marcia Hart, dear friend.
Anna was born in 1934, to Anna Pesak, who was widowed 3 months prior to Anna's birth. Anna's father, John Pesak, was killed by a hit skip driver. She grew up on West 52nd Street with her 5 siblings. Anna was an avid and award winning swimmer. In 1965, she gave birth to her only child, Paula. To support her and her daughter, she was a bookkeeper for several years. Anna was very close to her daughter, Paula and spent the last 27 years living with Paula and Patrick. They spent time going out to eat, shopping and to festivals and casinos. She enjoyed slot machines and instant tickets. Anna loved going to Las Vegas, with Paula and her sister, Jenny and brother in law, Al. Throughout her life, she spent much time visiting her dear sister and friend, Toni Friedel in Lima, Ohio. They loved going to the Lima Eagles where they would split a beer or two, eat and play instant tickets. Anna was a Eucharistic minister for many years who took communion to the shut- ins. She was always willing to help others out. Beloved mother and special friend of Paula and her husband Patrick, who survive her. Special grandma to "furbabies" Mama and Lucy. Dear aunt, godmother, friend and neighbor. She was preceeded in death by her parents, John and Anna Pesak, siblings, Geraldine Pierce, Mildred Thielen, Antoinette Friedel, Joanne Rendes and Frank Pesak and furbabies, Duffy, Buddie and Andy.
