Charles Joseph Vleck, 76, of Port Jervis, NY, passed away on the evening of Friday, May 1st, in Middletown, NY.
Charles was born on May 22nd, 1949, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Anne and Sylvester Vleck. He grew up in Parma, Ohio, and attended Padua Franciscan High School, where he formed lifelong friendships he would always cherish.
Charles began his career as a mechanic before earning his bachelor's degree from the University of St. Francis in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and later his master's degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck, New Jersey—credentials that launched a long and lauded career in fleet management and maintenance. Outside of work, he found joy in many pursuits: rebuilding classic muscle cars, playing drums (including a memorable stint with The Outsiders in his youth), and collecting toy trains, for which he built elaborate train-scapes that delighted his children. He was also an avid camper, fisherman, hunter, and skier, and loved traveling with friends in search of adventure.
He is survived by his two daughters, Jackie Moody (Ryan Moody) and Brittany Holland (Brian Holland); his four grandchildren, Coraline, Whitaker, and Brooks Holland, and Willow Moody; his sister, Regina Zaucha; and two nephews, Adam Cody (Jessica Cody) and Troy Cody (Liz Cody).
Charles was known as a generous father, a loving brother, and a loyal friend with a sharp sense of humor. He will be deeply missed by the many who knew him.
