DANIEL E. MIECZNIKOWSKI, Dan was born on February 4, 1952, the third son of Edward and Alexa (Wurm) Miecznikowski. He had varied careers during his life, including baker, banker, agent for an auto leasing company, and for a time, on the staff of his alma mater, St. Edward High School.
But what his family and close friends most recall is his decency, his integrity and his fierce loyalty and devotion to family and friends. Just after Dan retired, his youngest brother Terry battled cancer, and that became the focus of Dan’s daily life, until Terry passed in 2019.
Dan’s own battle with cancer lasted four years, and the nobility and patience with which he endured the many challenges was an inspiration. At his request, his family placed him in Holy Family Hospice in Parma, Ohio, where he breathed his last on March 12, 2026.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Alexa, his brother Terry Miecznikowski, sister-in-law Loreen Miecznikowski, and great niece Jessie Echelberry. Left to mourn are his brothers Edward, Timothy (wife Loreen deceased), and his sister Susan (Kenneth) Bobola, nieces Jennifer Miecznikowski and Kelly (Curtis) Echelberry; nephews Scott Miecznikowski, Matthew Bobola and Michael (Melanie) Bobola, and 9 great nieces and nephews. Dan also was loved and will be missed by his extended family and many friends. It would be impossible to explain how much we all loved and admired our Dan.
At Dan’s specific request, there will be no visitation or services.
Cremation has occurred. His immediate family will carry him to his final resting place at a yet-to-be decided future time. He was ever a humble guy, and never wanted to be fussed over.
