David M. Karnak

David M. KARNAK, age 88. Beloved husband of 60 years to Marie K. (nee Kolbe). Dearest father of Kathy Pawelczak (Jim), Dave M. II (Susan), and Matt. Loving grandfather of Kait, Leah, Johan, Tyler, Armen, Luke, and Natalie. Dear brother, uncle, and friend to many.

In grade school at St. Ignatius Dave was a member of the boys choir.  He went on to sing in many choral groups in the Cleveland area, including the Singers Club of Cleveland, and was honored to sing under the direction of Robert Shaw.

Dave attended West Tech High School and after graduation from John Carroll University returned to West Tech as an English and Journalism teacher.  During that time, he developed and taught a course in the Bible as Literature. (Imagine that in a public school today)!

After retiring he became a tutor for homebound students and because he tutored all subject matters, he was a real whiz at Jeopardy.

At St. Bridget he was a cantor and member of the choir, president of the Parish Council, a member of the Diocesan Parish Council, and the Holy Name Society.  Along with his brother Chuck, Father Rob asked him to join a newly formed buildings and grounds committee.  They reviewed all the buildings and grounds here and prioritized what repairs or upgrades were needed.
