Deborah C. STANKO 05.24.1959–10.17.2023

Deb, Debbie, Mom, Aunt Deb, age 64, passed peacefully in her sleep October 17th, 2023 in Boiling Springs, South Carolina, while caring for her terminally ill mother. She had her coffee cup ready for the next day so she did not know she would be leaving us. God decided to have her heart & body rest and have the coffee in heaven.

She is preceded in death by her father Robert (Bob) Cline and brother Michael Cline. Her mother Mary Ellen Wuerfel passed away on October 18th, 2023. Deb was born in Loudonville, Ohio and grew up in Toledo, Ohio. She attended The Ohio State University, where she earned her B.S. in Microbiology. She met her husband Michael (Mike) as they were in three classes together in the first quarter of their freshman year. After they graduated, they were married at St. Charles Borromeo Church in Parma, Ohio on September 4th, 1982. Deb worked at the Cleveland Clinic as a lab technician doing cancer research. She enjoyed gardening, nature, science, reading and scrapbooking.

She loved all her children; she was at every recital, game & graduation. Mom was there to help heal every bruise, bump and heartache. She loved all her nieces & nephews, her goddaughter Sarah, and her children's friends like her own. She was a much beloved wife, mom, daughter, daughter- in-law, sister-in-law, aunt, cousin and friend. She was the kindest gentle soul that radiated calmness and love.

She is survived by husband Mike, children Therese, Matthew (Anne) & James, and grandson August (Matthew & Anne); stepmother Donna Cline (Robert deceased); father-in-law John Stanko (Loretta deceased), her lifelong best friend Therese Hoehn (Andrew), and many other family and friends.

Visitation will be held Friday, October 27th from 2:00pm-4:00pm & 6:00pm-8:00pm at the Zabor Funeral Home, 5680 Pearl Rd. Parma (between Snow & Ridge Roads.). Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, October 28th at 10:00am at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 5891 Ridge Road, Parma. In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to St. Charles Borromeo School or The Cleveland Clinic Foundation.
