Dorothy L. “Dottie” Mraz

d. April 12, 2023

We regretfully announce the passing of Dorothy "Dottie" Mraz (nee Claire) age 81. Dottie passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on April 12, 2023. Dottie was born in Cleveland and raised in Brecksville, Ohio by William (dcd) and Dorothy (dcd) Claire. She was a loving, big sister to Jim (Sharon), Bob (Shirley), Tom (dcd) and William (Karen) Claire. Dottie was preceded in death by her loving husband, Rev. Mr. Philip Mraz, with whom she held an unwavering faith in God.

She was passionate about sharing the love of our Lord with others. As a deacon's wife, she was an integral part of our church, Holy Family Catholic Parish. Dottie was a dedicated mother to Phil (Sarah), Tom (Dawn), Kathy Allen (Joe), Bob (Sabra) and Andy (Carolyn), whom she raised to be as loving, loyal, and independent as she was. She was also a grandmother to Hannah, Daniel, Peter, Jack, Bradley, Rachel, Claire, Mary, Katie, Stephanie, Matthew, Spence, William, Rebecca, and James; all of whom she adored with all her heart! She was also a loving aunt to her many Mraz and Claire nephews and nieces.

Dottie was one of the strongest women we knew, and we were blessed to have her as the head of our family. She graduated with bachelor's and master's degrees in education and taught fifth grade for many years. A talented writer, Dottie penned and published a book about her life as a deacon's wife. She was passionate about supporting other women whose husbands chose to serve God as deacons. She was also a wonderful baker, cook, and seamstress; all of which benefited her family and friends. Dottie was a woman of strong faith and instilled in us the importance of family, hard work and doing what is right. She ministered to everyone she met in her kind, compassionate way. She was a source of inspiration to us all and will be deeply missed by everyone whose lives she touched.
