Jean Shirley DINGER was born on December 8, 1928 in Sunbury, PA. She was the daughter of Charles and Thelma (George) Taylor and sister of Kenneth (Muriel). She grew up in a small community, Stonington, PA, and attended a one-room school house for elementary school. She would tell stories about walking to school in the snow and having to use the outhouse. The teacher would arrive before the students and start a fire in the pot belly stove. She attended junior and senior high school in Sunbury, PA, and graduated in May 1946. She grew up during the depression and fondly talked about going to her Grandma George's farm for Sunday dinners.
She met her husband, Daniel F. Dinger, at a roller skating rink and was married on October 11, 1950 in a small, intimate home ceremony prior to Dan's deployment to the army. They welcomed their first daughter, Shirley, in 1952 born in Shamokin, PA. Their second daughter, Diane, was born in 1954 in Cleveland, OH.
Jean and Dan worked at American Greetings for many years, and took an early retirement to travel. They bought a winter home in Apache Junction, AZ where their family enjoyed visiting during the winter. Dan passed away in AZ in April 1995. Jean eventually purchased a mobile home in Olmsted Township where she lived until 2021.
Jean loved her family and spent as much time as she could with them. Jean is survived by her daughters Shirley (Chuck), Diane (Stanley deceased), her granddaughters Lindsay (Matthew Tully), Lauren (Joe Salutric) and her great grandchildren who loved their GG very much: Tyler Daniel, Elijah Taylor, Tegan Grace, Ella Mae, and Emma Jean. In addition, she is survived by her step grandchildren, Marc, Brian and Keith Simak, five step grandchildren, and three great step grandchildren.
