Joan Kosmerl (Chanda), 77, of Brook Park, Ohio, passed away peacefully on December 3, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Joan's life is a testament to kindness, faith, and unconditional love. Family was everything to Joan. Her home was a place of love and laughter. Born on November 22, 1947, to Edward and Geraldine Chanda, Joan grew up in Willowick, Ohio, where she graduated from Villa Angela High School and Ursuline College.
Joan is survived by her husband of 53 years, Frank Kosmerl. Together, they built a warm and loving home, raising five children who were the pride of her life: Maria (Michael) Scheutzow, Ann (Nic) Kosmerl, Patricia Kosmerl, Sarah (Tom) Spencer, and Paul (Emily) Kosmerl. Joan's greatest joy came from her eight cherished grandchildren: Katie, Maggie, Abbie, Karen, Raymond, Ruth, Frances, and Mae. Joan is also survived by many beloved family members including her siblings, Margaret (Videtic), Virginia (Hempen), Barbara (Walls), Dan Chanda, and Robert Chanda. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Edward and Geraldine.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Joan's life. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Zabor Funeral Home, 5680 Pearl Road, Parma, Ohio. A Funeral Mass will take place on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at St. John Bosco Catholic Church, 6480 Pearl Road, Parma Heights, Ohio. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery.
Joan Kosmerl will be remembered for her unwavering love, quiet strength, and the joy she brought to all who knew her. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of her children and grandchildren who adore her.
