John “Jack” Murphy

John Thomas (Jack) Murphy, ( 4-19-1941 ), passed away March 29, 2023 ,  devoted husband of Marie (Gallina) Murphy, beloved father of Ann Marie Hurley (Leo), Matthew, Mary Kaye (deceased), Mary Beth Murphy, and Maureen Shimko (Rick); proud Papa of Leo and Nora Hurley.  Son of Thomas Charles Murphy and Mary H. Kilbane Murphy, both deceased.   Brother of Thomas (Kathleen), James, Kathleen Jacobs (deceased) (Jay), Mary Ann Murphy, Rosemary Rehker (Doug), Noreen Cummins and Margaret Mary Murphy. Uncle of 7,  grand uncle of 16, friend to many. Jack served honorably in Vietnam, receiving the Armed Services Expeditionary Medal. Jack was a Policeman in the City of Brooklyn for 40 years, retiring as Chief in 2006. In addition to serving as a policeman, he did masonry work for over 25 years, working tirelessly for his family. Despite his health challenges later in life, Jack's positive outlook never wavered and was an inspiration. He was truly adored by his family and will be missed beyond measure.
