Joseph Paul Roth "Joe" passed away peacefully on September 11, 2024, following 95 years of a life well lived. He was born August 6, 1929 to Thomas and Helen (Thyret) Roth, joining his sister Lucille (William Brophy) on the west side of Cleveland.

He graduated from James Ford Rhodes High School in 1947, where he ran track and served as Senior Class President. Stationed in Germany, Joe served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953 during the Korean Conflict. Shortly after his return to the states, he met the love of his life, Virginia Kleinhenz. They married on October 1, 1955 at St. Thomas More Church in Brooklyn, Ohio, where they have been parishioners for more than 50 years.

Joe and Virginia raised four children, Joseph (Mary Beth), Mary Ellen, Kathleen Delaney, and Susan (Mike) Koetter. Joe retired from his career as District Sales Manager for Warner Publisher Services in 1991. After retirement, he took up gardening, playing bocce ball, and shooting pool with fellow retirees.

Joe was an avid Cleveland Indians fan in addition to his love of frequenting Northfield Park and Thistledown racetracks to place two-dollar bets on the ponies.

He and Virginia enjoyed spending time with their grandchildren, Brian (Britney), Kevin (Heather) and Lynn Roth; Bill (Samantha) and Emily Delaney; and Julia, Mike, Becca and Lizzie Koetter. Grandpa Roth played Santa for his grandchildren at all the Roth Christmas Day celebrations for almost three decades, a memory that will be cherished by all. In recent years, he and Virginia welcomed great grandchildren Michaelangelo, Lincoln, Avalon, Ethan, and Eden.

Joe was a favorite uncle to many nieces and nephews, and a beloved friend to many. It would be rare to find Joe without a cigar in his hand, or pocket, and a newspaper within arm's reach. He was a truly wonderful man, and he will be profoundly missed by his family.
