Joyce Ann PEARL (nee Cox), age 80, of Parma Hts., Ohio. Born May 3, 1929 in Somerset, KY. Daughter of William and Desta Cox (deceased). Beloved wife of Robert Louis Pearl for 56 years. Loving mother of Janet A. Pearl, Columbus, OH; Ellen K. (Joseph, deceased) Pochedley, Kent, OH; Maureen S. (Mousa) Babaki, Westlake, OH; Meghan K. (Mike) Musko, Vancouver, WA; and Erin A. (Rich) Bruening, Parma, OH. Dearest Grandmother of Matthew, Steven (deceased), and Laura Babaki; Lakota and Elan Pochedley; and Max and Maor Bruening. Dear sister of the following deceased: Helen Harris, Charles Cox, Maxine Murphy. Nieces and nephews: Charles (Susi) Murphy, Dr. Sara Murphy, M.D. (Clifford), Dan (Christie) Murphy, all of Indiana. In-Laws: Marj Guerich, Eileen (James, deceased) Pearl, Gerald (Hildegard) Pearl, Maureen (Charles, deceased) Harris, Sister Virginia Pearl, CSJ, and many nieces and nephews of Kansas. Beloved cousin of Mary Prescott, Elsmere, KY. Longtime friendships with many, including Winifred Fograsher, Helene Kula, Kaye Arkangel and Nancy Chal, of Cleveland, OH; Dorothy Driska of Grover, MO; Gloria Martz of Jonesboro, GA; Virginia Pevec, Winter Garden, FL. and Clara Watts, Sun City, AZ. Joyce graduated from Harris Teachers College, St. Louis, MO, in 1952 with a B.A. in Elementary Education. She was listed in the Who's Who of American Colleges and Universities edition. Her teaching career spanned over 40 years from St. Louis, Parma, Brooklyn and Berea City Schools as well as parochial schools in those areas. She was a Charter Member of St. John Bosco Church. A member of the St. Padre Pio prayer group. A volunteer teacher of religious education (C.C.D./P.S.R.). Served as principal of the elementary program for 6 yrs. Served as a Eucharistic minister for 20 yrs. Officer of the St. John Bosco Ladies Guild and Senior Citizens' Club and member of the Holy Name Society. As well as being an educator, Joyce worked for the U.S. Dept. of Labor for 25 yrs. She was an active volunteer for many organizations including Parma Hospital's Chapel office. Joyce enjoyed the arts, music, opera, theater and movies. She was an avid reader, bridge player and world traveler. The family suggests memorial contributions to Sisters of the Incarnate Word , 6618 Pearl Rd., Parma Hts. OH 44130; St. John Bosco Church, 6480 Pearl Rd., Parma Hts. OH 44130 or a charity of your choice.

Funeral Mass: Friday,  March 19, 10:30 am at St. John Bosco Church. Friends may call at The Zabor Funeral Home, 5680 Pearl Rd. Parma (betw. Snow and Ridge), 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm, Thursday. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery.
