Marian F. Jech

d. December 10, 2021

Marian Frances Jech (nee Baker), 94 passed away in the presence of her children on December 10, 2021. Known for her ever-present smile, Marian embraced all she met and befriended those who were shunned, bringing her kindness and optimism into their lives. Preceded in death by her brother George Baker and her husband of 62 years William James Jech. Marian was blessed with 3 children, Marilyn, Adrienne Miller (Skip), and William (Kathy Holliday-Jech); 5 grandchildren, Chip Miller (Beth Siegfried Miller), Dan Miller, James Jech, Margaret Jech, and Natalie Lindquist (Bryan); and three great- grandchildren, Melanie, Kane and Axel Miller. Marian was a Cleveland native, West Tech graduate and life-long artist. She worked at Manning Studios until marriage and taught an art class at the Brooklyn Senior Center. She continued utilizing her talents throughout her lifetime by volunteering for projects at church, creating her own Christmas cards for 40 years, and assisting her son with the occasional overdue high school art project. She painted many portraits by request including her grandson's favorite, Ozzy Osbourne. Her independence as a strong woman was demonstrated in 1949 when she purchased property in Marblehead Ohio where husband Bill with the help of family, built a cottage from the ground up. The cottage became a family gathering place for over 50 years. Marian and Bill also enjoyed traveling the country in their trailer. Marian had a deep faith and adhered to a lengthy daily prayer ritual. She influenced the spirituality of her nieces and nephews by gathering the extended family on Christmas Eve for church. She organized many excursions for her kids, their friends and extended family to the beach, zoos, amusement parks and downtown Cleveland to shop and view Christmas windows. When Marian moved on to residential living, she made it a point to immediately memorize the names of her neighbors. Her patience was infinite, her glass always full, and her prayers all-inclusive. SERVICE ARE PRIVATE. A public memorial service will be held at some time in the future. If desired, donations may be made to Lutheran Metropolitan Ministry, 4515 Superior Ave, Cleveland OH, 44103.
