Mary Lou Widowski

With deep love and heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Mary Lou Widowski (nee Boehm), who died at home on July 25, 2026, surrounded by her devoted family. Born in October 1934 in Cleveland, Ohio, Mary was a source of kindness and love throughout her 91 years.

Mary was the beloved daughter of the late Michael J. Boehm Sr. and Anna E. Boehm (nee Cribbins). She was preceded in death by Charles M. Widowski Sr., her devoted husband of 62 years, with whom she shared a loving marriage that began on September 14, 1957, in Cleveland, Ohio.

Mary’s legacy lives on through her surviving family; her children Charles (Josephine), Evelyn Eibel (Robert), Matthew, Mary Ann DiFranco (Tony), Elizabeth, Mark (Suzanne), and Margaret Kovach (Thomas), as well as her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were the light of her life.

She now reunites with Charles and her siblings, Michael (Gen), Margaret, Hildegarde, Catherine Christoper (Michael), Daniel, Paul, James (Janice), Evelyn Baldwin (James), and Philip (Theresa), in eternal peace.

A proud graduate of Rhodes High School in 1952, Mary went on to earn her BSN from St. John College in 1957, at a time when this was a rare accomplishment. She later achieved a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree from the Medical College of Toledo in 1991. Her calling was a testament to her dedication to the profession of nursing and her compassion to all people. Beginning in public health for the City of Cleveland, she went on to a leadership position at Deaconess Hospital. Mary concluded her formal career as the Director of Education at Medina General Hospital, where her influence was felt deeply. In addition, Mary also taught many nursing continuing education courses at Cleveland State University during this time. Even after retirement, she continued to advise and care for people throughout the remainder of her life.

Mary’s commitment to service extended beyond her professional life. As a lifelong member of St. Charles Borromeo Parish in Parma, she was deeply involved in her faith community, teaching PSR and serving as the president of the parish’s chapter of the St. Vincent de Paul Society until 2016. Her early years as a Girl Scout with Troop 350 fostered a spirit of camaraderie and community that lasted a lifetime.

Known for her culinary talents, Mary delighted in baking hundreds of Christmas cookies each year, bringing joy to those fortunate enough to receive them. Her exceptional skill in crocheting potholders was a hallmark of her generosity, as she shared these handmade treasures with friends and acquaintances alike.

Mary was a woman of faith, wisdom, and boundless love. Her ability to listen and provide thoughtful guidance made her an invaluable confidante to many. She lived her life as a true educator, imparting lessons not just in the classroom, but as a true example in her daily life. Her generous spirit touched all who knew her.

The family will receive visitors at Zabor Funeral Home, located at 5680 Pearl Rd. Parma, Ohio on Thursday July 30, 2026, from 4:00 – 8:00 pm.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 am on Friday, July 31, 2026, at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 5891 Ridge Road, Parma, OH 44129. Family requests to meet at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Miracle City Hospice, the St. Vincent de Paul Society and to any childhood cancer research groups, in her memory.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the wonderful staff of Miracle City Hospice. Their loving care provided immeasurable comfort to our mother and family during this difficult time.

Mary’s enduring legacy of love, kindness, and service will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched. May her soul rest in peace, as she watches over us with her gentle smile.
