Mary A. WHITMAN (nee Walter), age 87 passed away peacefully on October 21, 2020. She was born November 8th, 1932 in Parma, OH. Dearest daughter of William E. Walter and Alice E. Walter (nee Page). Beloved wife of the late Roy Whitman. Former wife of James R. Jones III. Cherished mother of Deborah Carr, Timothy Jones (Angela), Jeffrey Jones and step-mother of Roy Whitman Jr. Beloved grandmother of Ryan Jones, Allison Carr, James Carr (deceased), Rebecca Jones, Lea Jones and Lindsey Jones; loving great-grandmother of 3. Sister of the late William Walter Jr. (Helen) and the later Robert Walter (Marinell).
Mary was an avid horseback rider in her youth. She gifted a love of horses to her children. She had a tremendous work ethic, working multiple jobs at many points of her life. Her commitment to her employment was evidenced in her retirement at the age of 81. People were drawn to her like a magnet wherever she went. She enthusiastically embraced all holidays, especially Christmas, making it a memorable event for her family especially her grandchildren. She absolutely loved her flowers and always had the most beautifully landscaped yard in her neighborhood. Although she will be remembered for many attributes, her engaging smile and beautiful, caring eyes were notable. May she rest in peace.
All funeral services are private and a public celebration of life service will be scheduled at a later date.
