Our beloved Matthew Phillip Park passed away Sunday, August 20, 2023 with his family by his side. Matt was born on July 22, 1985, in Cleveland. He was a dear son, brother and uncle. Cousin to many and best friend to all.
He had a disease that he did not ask for and tried repeatedly with the unwavering help of his family and friends to be without. Matt had a beautiful soul with a love for his family that shined brightly in the smiles he gave each and every one of us. The look he gave his nephews as they said "Uncle Matt", was one of pure love. He was so very proud to be an Uncle.
Matt had the unique ability to put the world on hold for a few minutes and have a great laugh, reminiscing about great childhood memories and lightening the load of everyday life.
He appreciated nature, and was an avid fisherman. If you couldn't find him, a good place to look was the Rocky River where he frequently fished for steelhead with his handcrafted lures. He loved ice hockey and dreamed of the day when he would get on the ice with his nephews. He loved animals, especially dogs who would often attach themselves to him. It gives us comfort to know he is in a better place as he has been reunited with his best dog Mango.
We will always cherish the good times and memories of Matt. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to The Lantern Center for Recovery, a place where Matt spent much time and felt supported. Donations can be made via this link, https://square.link/u/C4hv4gpM
