Nancy C. Kessen

Nancy Charlene Kessen, 86, passed away on June 23, 2026, surrounded by friends and family. She was born in Kentland, Indiana, on May 24, 1940, to Leo and Louise Starks. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 56 years, John Frederick Kessen, her oldest son Joseph, and her brother Robert Starks. She is survived by her sister Mary Knochel (Wayne), brother William Starks (Maxine), son Jack, daughter Susan Baek (James), and grandchildren Molly and Stevie.

She was well loved by all who knew her because of her kindness, her willingness to listen, and her clever wit. Her career as a surgical nurse began at Lakewood Hospital, but she soon left to work at Parma Hospital, where she made many dear life-long friends. She was an avid reader and gardener, a die-hard Cleveland sports fan (she especially loved the Browns), and a wonderful grandma who loved to bake cookies. She will be sorely missed and remembered with love.
