Scott G. Simon

d. October 29, 2022

Scott Gordon SIMON, (age 68) was born in Berea, Ohio on October 13, 1953 to his mother, Mary Lou Simon (Loughead), and his father, Gordon Henry Simon. Scott was their second child, born shortly after the passing of his older brother Keith. Scott would grow up as the eldest of their remaining children, Mark and Lee Jay Simon.

Scott grew up in Euclid, Ohio where he played a variety of sports, both in the parks of the area and during his time at Euclid High School, including football, basketball, and baseball. Scott graduated from high school in 1972 and attended Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. A member of Pi Kappa Alpha, Scott majored in Business and Education.

Following his graduation from Miami University in 1978, Scott returned to the Cleveland area. He began a career in supervisorial management. Eventually, he came to work for Riser Foods and Giant Eagle at their distribution warehouse in Bedford, Ohio. During his 20 year career as a supervisor at that warehouse, Scott worked closely with members of Teamsters Local 507, who he always proudly viewed as valued partners.

However, the true pride of Scott's life was his family. Scott met Janet Anne Moennich in 1984 while they both worked for Boston Distributors in Bedford Heights, Ohio. They married on November 21st, 1987. Together they built their home in Parma Heights, Ohio and raised two sons, Jack Edward Simon and Thomas Scott Simon. He spent many a day and evening reading to his boys or being at their games or wrestling matches. Scott also remained a devoted son and beloved brother while becoming a caring brother-in-law, cousin, uncle to over 15 nieces and nephews, and father-in-law to Emily Simon (Zeller).

Always a kind and quiet soul, Scott enjoyed music and sitting with nature from his back porch. The major exception being to feed his continued love of sports by watching the Ohio State University Buckeyes's football team, the Cleveland Guardians (Indians), the Cleveland Browns, the Cleveland Cavaliers, college basketball's March Madness, or a golf or tennis Major Tournament.

Having suffered from a variety of health ailments over the past few years, Scott is now at peace and may rest. His family will be holding a…
