Virginia K. “Ginny” Thompson

d. September 24, 2023

Virginia "Ginny" Kaye THOMPSON, age 79, of Olmsted Township, Ohio, returned home to her beloved Savior on September 24, 2023. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin L. Thompson and Rofelda (Orsatti) Thompson. Ginny was well loved by brother, Eugene Thompson, sister-in-law Nancy Thompson, daughters Bonnie Michalek and Diane DeCaprio (née Michalek), cherished son-in-law Matthew DeCaprio, four wonderful grandchildren whom she loved dearly – Dalton J. Mincks, Isabella R. DeCaprio, James R. Mincks, and Marissa J. DeCaprio, nieces, a nephew, life-long dear friend Sandi Share, and numerous other family and friends.

Ginny lived life to the fullest. She never let age stop her and started martial arts at the ripe age of 74. Before her cancer treatments she earned her second to last belt before black belt. Ginny continued her training even in her hospice bed where she was seen demonstrating a spear hand strike. She loved God, her family and friends, her church, serving others, cruising with beloved cousins, camping, gardening, sewing, jigsaw puzzles, playing cards, and eating ice cream. Ginny was a leap year baby who will be celebrating her 20 th birthday in heaven no doubt with pizza and rock-n-roll music.

Ginny fought an incredibly courageous battle against breast cancer for more than two years. Despite the challenges she always knew her Savior, Jesus Christ, was walking with her every moment. She continued to be sweet, loving, positive, courageous, strong, and faithful until her last breath. Not to mention humorous and ornery too! Ginny's family would like to thank the countless people who showed support. The love and beautiful acts of kindness will never be forgotten. In lieu of flowers, Ginny would appreciate donations to Second Mile City in Berea or Hospice of Southwest General.
