When I played Class F Baseball with Jerry,an 8th grader he played 1st Base & me, as a 5th grader played 2nd. Our catcher was not very good. So he would invariably drop the 3rd strike. He would then pick up the ball and throw it to Jerry at 1st. Jerry would then toss the ball to me to step on 1st base so that I would get the put-out (as if it meant anything insofar as stats are concerned). He was kind to us little kids and remained a good person as long as I knew him. After he left the neighborhood, I very seldom ran into him through the past 55 years. I always looked up to him as agood guy and he probably was a good husband and father. May God have mercy on his eternal soul.
